Building a Global Community of Hoteliers

If you’re reading this and wondering how you can contribute, I invite you to share your journey with me.

As I sit here reflecting on the journey of Mentor Hotelier, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of pride and excitement about the vibrant community of hoteliers I’ve had the privilege of connecting with.

Across the world, hotel owners and managers aren’t just focused on making their properties thrive—they’re constantly seeking ways to innovate, improve productivity, and implement cutting-edge technology to enhance guest experiences.

But what inspires me the most is their willingness to share these strategies and lessons with others in the industry.

At Mentor Hotelier, I’ve seen first-hand how valuable it is for hoteliers to exchange ideas, insights, and experiences. This is why I’ve created a platform where leaders in hospitality can come together, share their stories, and learn from one another. Through a series of interviews, I’ve had the privilege of hearing from hoteliers across continents who have opened up about the strategies, tools, and processes that have helped them excel in an increasingly competitive industry.

My mission is simple: to create a global community of wisdom where knowledge flows freely, and everyone benefits.

I believe that by asking the right questions, I can unlock valuable insights that will help hoteliers everywhere navigate the complex world of hospitality with confidence and creativity.

Why I Ask the Questions I Do

Each of the questions I pose in my interviews is carefully crafted to draw out the most impactful and practical knowledge from hoteliers like you. I want to understand not just the "what," but the "how" and the "why" behind your strategies.

For example, how does a boutique hotel in a remote corner of the world manage to stand out and thrive using AI-driven tools? What innovative systems are hoteliers using to save time, streamline operations, and improve guest satisfaction? How do they handle the delicate balance between maintaining human touch and embracing automation?

These are the kinds of insights that can inspire others to take action, try new approaches, and improve their own hotel operations. Whether you’re a seasoned industry veteran or just starting out, there’s something powerful about learning from your peers. My goal is to make sure those lessons don’t stay confined to individual hotels but spread across the entire industry, making it stronger and more connected.

I Want Your Story

If you’re reading this and wondering how you can contribute, I invite you to share your journey with me. At Mentor Hotelier, I believe that every hotelier has something valuable to offer—whether it’s an innovative process that saves time, a tool that has revolutionized your booking system, or a lesson learned from a challenge that helped you grow.

When I interview hoteliers, I start by asking them about the heart of their operation: the hotel itself. I’m curious to learn about the unique aspects of their property, the markets they serve, and the challenges they face. From there, I dive deeper into the tools and strategies they use, from Property Management Systems (PMS) to AI-driven automation. It’s this exploration that leads to the most valuable insights—the kinds that other hoteliers can read and think, “That could work for me, too!”

The Questions I Ask

Here are some of the key questions I ask hoteliers during my interviews. These help me uncover the processes, strategies, and tools that contribute to their success:

About Your Hotel and Operations

  • Could you briefly describe your hotel? (Location, size, number of rooms, target clientele, etc.)

  • What are the primary challenges you face in running a hotel in your specific location or market?

  • How does your hotel differentiate itself from competitors in terms of guest experience and operational efficiency?

  • Can you share a recent success story where you improved productivity or guest satisfaction through a change in process or technology?

Systems and Digital Tools

  • What Property Management System (PMS) do you use, and why did you choose it? What specific features help you manage operations more efficiently?

  • What type of channel management system do you use to handle reservations from multiple online travel agencies (OTAs)? How has this impacted your hotel's efficiency?

  • Have you implemented any AI-driven tools in your day-to-day operations? If so, how have they improved productivity?

  • Are there any automation tools (such as task management, housekeeping systems, or guest communication tools) that have transformed your workflow?

Process Improvement and Team Management

  • Can you describe the workflow management tools your team uses? How do they help streamline communication and task management across departments?

  • How do you handle team training and onboarding, especially regarding new technologies or systems?

  • What strategies or systems do you use to optimize housekeeping operations and ensure room readiness?

  • How do you manage guest feedback and reviews? Are there any specific tools that help you stay on top of guest satisfaction?

Productivity and Time-Saving Strategies

  • What are some time-saving strategies or best practices you've implemented across different departments (front desk, housekeeping, F&B)?

  • Can you share an example of a process that was previously manual but now is automated in your hotel? How much time and resources have you saved through this automation?

  • Are there any systems or tools you use to monitor energy consumption, inventory, or other operational costs that have led to significant savings?

AI and Automation

  • How has AI-driven technology changed the way your hotel operates, from marketing to guest services to maintenance?

  • Have you adopted any AI-powered marketing or revenue management tools? How do these tools help you better predict demand and adjust pricing strategies?

  • Can you share your experience with AI-driven chatbots or virtual assistants for guest interactions? How have they impacted guest satisfaction and staff workload?

Advice and Lessons Learned

  • What was the biggest mistake you made when implementing a new tool or system, and what did you learn from it?

  • If you could give one piece of advice to other hoteliers looking to improve their productivity through technology, what would it be?

  • How do you stay updated on the latest trends and tools in hospitality tech? Are there any specific resources, conferences, or communities you recommend?
