Building Bridges, Not Just Walls

The power of relationships in the hotel industry.

As someone who grew up in the family business of managing a chain of hotels in southern Morocco, I've witnessed firsthand the evolution of our industry. I've seen trends come and go, and I've learned that while attention may seem like the new gold, it's the relationships we build and the communities we nurture that truly stand the test of time.

In the hotel industry, where the landscape is ever-changing and the competition fierce, focusing solely on gaining attention can lead us down a path of quick wins but short-lived success. It’s easy to get caught up in the race for more bookings, more followers, more reviews. But at what cost?

Connection Over Attention: The Heartbeat of Hospitality

Hospitality, at its core, is about people. It's about creating a welcoming environment, not just for guests but also for those who work alongside us and those who share in the challenges and triumphs of this industry. Optimizing for attention alone often turns us into "broke creators"—we may gain the numbers, but we lose the soul of what makes our industry special.

In my journey as a hotelier, I've realized that our most valuable assets aren't the buildings we own or the amenities we offer, but the connections we cultivate. These connections—whether with our guests, our teams, or our fellow hoteliers—are the oil that keeps the engines of our businesses running smoothly.

Why I Created a Community for Hoteliers

This realization led me to create a community specifically for hoteliers, a place where we can connect, share, and grow together. This isn’t just another networking group—this is a space built on the belief that our shared experiences, challenges, and insights can be our greatest tools for innovation and success.

Being part of a family-run business has shown me the power of community. My understanding of hotel management was shaped not just by formal education, but by the wisdom passed down from other hoteliers and the relationships we’ve built with our guests and partners. I wanted to extend that sense of belonging and mutual support to other hoteliers, knowing that together, we can achieve far more than we ever could alone.

My role as Marketing Director in our family business is my 'moneymaker,' the core of my work where I invest most of my time and energy. However, I've realized that dedicating time and sharing my insights with a community of like-minded hoteliers is not only a way to give back, but also an opportunity to create value for others and gain valuable insights in return.

The Value of Investing in Relationships

Some might wonder why there's a fee to join our community. The answer is simple: commitment. When you invest in something, you’re more likely to take it seriously. Our community isn’t about collecting as many members as possible; it’s about bringing together those who are genuinely interested in growing, learning, and contributing to a collective success. The fee ensures that our members are dedicated, and that we can provide the resources and support needed to help each other thrive.

A Space for Growth, Collaboration, and Success

By focusing on relationships, we open doors to new strategies, fresh ideas, and innovative tools that can propel our businesses forward. Our community offers a unique opportunity to establish these valuable connections. We learn from each other's successes and mistakes, support each other through challenges, and celebrate our collective wins.

In a world where attention can be fleeting, relationships endure. I encourage you to join us, not just to be seen but to be part of something meaningful. Let’s optimize for connection, for community, and for the long-term success of our businesses.

Together, we can build not just profitable hotels, but legacies.
